Cape Lookout Trail

Only a 10 minute drive from Sandlake Country Inn, the Cape Lookout Trail is probably one of the most spectacular hikes on the beautiful Oregon Coast.

Located along the 3 Capes Scenic Route, there are actually 3 trails you can take from the trail head. The trail down to the beach is very steep, but it will lead you to the beach where in 1890, the clipper ship, The Struan shipwrecked.

The Oregon Coast trail will take you up to the state park.

By far, our favorite is the Cape Trail. You'll hike 2 1/2 miles to the tip of Cape Lookout and the trail crosses back and forth from the north side of the cape to the south side a few times and ends directly at the tip of the cape. It's a wonderful spot to look for whales also!
